Last Friday of the year

I tried on my New year's outfit and makeup! Although I will definitely wear falsies tomorrow, and not just mascara. :) I also think I won't use as much black eye shadow (I look a bit "scene" with too dark shades, lol). At least the red lips look great with my gold dress! Yay!

Oh and I have to tell you... I woke up eaaarly this morning because Mads suddenly asked "how much are you getting?". I didn't reply because I thought I was imagining things (I was very tired, obviously), but then he went "hmm???", so I asked him what he was talking about. That woke him up, because apparantly he had been sleep talking and dreamed that we were grocery shopping for candy and cookies, LOL.
He'll be home soon, and this evening we're going to the movies to watch Sherlock Holmes 2! People say it's a great movie, and the first was good, so I hope they're right! Will be fun! :)

Moreover, I want to congratulate my wonderful friend Z, who had a beautiful baby girl a few days ago! ♡ Can't wait to meet her! Well, both of them!

New year makeup!

Here's some inspiration for New Year's Eve!

Pictures found on Google

I will do a mix of the 2nd and 4th makeup styles, but with white/silver shades, as a change (since I normally always wear brown/bronze shades) and to go with my glitter nails ;)

The color of New Year's Eve

My color for New Year's eve: Gold, lots of gold!

Sequin dresses, metallic dresses, silver dresses, gold dresses... New Year's Eve is the time of the year when we get to wear as much glitter and bling as we want without looking like someone from a rap video! But don't worry if you have a simple, not sparkling dress. You can easily make it glam with jewelry, for instance, by wearing a big shiny golden necklace!

What's your color for New Year's eve? :)

New year's nails!

I just did my nails, sparkling New Year's style, with glitter! ♡ It will look better once it's dry and I can remove excess glitter, but it'll look great on New Year's Eve, don't you think? :)

Makeup trend spring 2012

Finally! One of the biggest makeup trends for spring 2012 is finally perfect for me; false lashes!

Louis Vuitton:

I love the dark shades in the outer courner of the eyes, and the cat eye look. I'll try this makeup style tomorrow morning (eaaaarly) when I'm leaving for Denmark again! Too bad my skin isn't as extremely flawless as the gorgeous girl in the bottom right picture... Oh well! :P

Today's shopping

Today I went shopping because of the big sale (which pretty much all stores have between Christmas and New year's)! I had to buy new shoes because I need a fall/winter pair that doesn't leak... I have a tendency of wearing out my shoes... >< I found these pretty ladies:

I also bought a mascara from IsaDora, and while looking through the store, I found something I thought my bf would like - a lip balm that smells like Coca Cola! xD He always complains about the smell of my regular lip balm.. now he won't!!

And I bought earrings - 50% off! for New Year's eve! I have the cutest outfit planned :) but I won't show any of it yet! I also bought some other well needed things, but I'll spare you the photos.

Have a great rest of the night, everybody! :)

My hair after quitting shampoo

As you know by now, I have started with the conditioner method a.k.a. the curly girl method, which means I have stopped using shampoo and only use conditioner instead! Read more about this method here. I already see the result when I look at before pictures. The difference is not big yet, but thinking about the fact that I have only not used shampoo twice, it's going really well! My hair is really soft now (and I mean really soft!), shiny, and you can see the curls better because the frizz is pretty much gone!

Before                                            2nd time without shampoo

The washing conditioner I use is Garnier Fructis: Volume restruction (without silicones). It smells lovely, contains all the right ingredients, and makes the roots of my hair super soft! haha

As deep conditioner I use Frank Provost: Expert repair conditioner. I love it! It makes my hair shiny and soft, which I knew already before I stopped using shampoo. I love this conditioner! It's awesome!

I use a kitchen towel instead of a regular one to dry my hair, and I apply Wella: Shockwaves styling gel while my hair is still wet.

I'm really excited about what my hair will look like within a few weeks! I will keep you updated ;)

Merry Christmas!

I decided to take some Christmassy pictures while trying a pair of new falsies! The lashes look pretty natural, but they're very long. I like them though! Maybe I'll cut them a bit.. or maybe not!

Moreover, I'm on my 2nd try with the conditioner/curly girl method! I can't see much of a difference yet (although my hair is not as frizzy as it was before), but I can feel it! My hair is sooo soft! It's amazing! ♡ I'm never going back to shampoo ever again!!

My new winter jacket!

Hi people! :) I arrived in Sweden yesterday evening and pretty much went straight to my cousin's bday party! Luckily, he lives next door ;) Today I went shopping with Lina, and will start with the conditioner method (or curly girl method) tomorrow! I'm very excited about it, and hope it works well on my hair!

Moreover, I decided on a new winter jacket - and it's gonna be a pink one from Adidas! Yay!  I've also decided on what to wear for New Year's Eve! I'll be back in Denmark by then :) but since I had to order the jacket online, I seriously hope I'll get it before I leave on Wednesday!!

This is the jacket! I got a really good deal; it's usually 999 SEK (about 112€ or 146 USD), but it was on sale with 300 SEK off + I got 10% discount - awesome! I've been wanting a pink jacket for very long now, but haven't been able to find one in the shops around here. I'm happy now, lol!

Favorite mascara

Mascara tip:
There are so many new mascaras out there, supposidly making our lashes seem longer, fuller, and even with "3D-effect". While some people tend to forget about older mascaras, I tried an old classic ;)
This is Build-up extra volume from IsaDora.

In my opinion, IsaDora's mascara is great! It makes my lashes appear much longer* (this is with only one coat without using the zigzag-method!!), without clumping them together like Max Factor's mascaras always do. Max Factor has actually been one of my favorite brands when it comes to mascara, but I will have to think again, especially now that you can get Big bold from IsaDora, which I've been wanting to try for some time. I have heard it does wonders for your lashes!

* My lashes are brown at the roots and blonde by the ends, and therefore don't seem too long without mascara.

Beautiful feet tip

I know here in Europe and the west, summer is a long way ahead, but that doesn't mean you should let your feet suffer! Your skin gets dry from this cold weather, and the skin on your feet is no exception. If you don't have the money, or just don't want to spend it on a nice foot bath, there's a home remedy for non-dry feet.

Fill your foot bath (just a big bowl in lack of a real foot bath) with half warm water, half warm milk. The milk is necessary because the lactic acid in milk naturally "eats" the dead skin, leaving you with nice, smooth feet again! If needed, you should of course use a foot file. And don't forget to finish off by massaging your feet with moisturizing lotion. Also, nail polish wouldn't hurt ;)

Geranium Pink

Makeup trend winter '11-12

As most of you know, one of the biggest makeup trends this season is red lips. Another big trend is to keep it natrual, as little mascara as possible, or even no mascara at all. If you're like me, wearing no mascara at all is something you wouldn't do. For us, it's time to think 40s

Red lips, beautiful lashes, natural yet glamorous makeup! Eyeshadow in gray or brown, and rosy cheeks. As for hair, curly or wavy hair is perfect for 2011-12, just like in the 40s. Think Veronica Lake.

What do you think about the 1940s makeup?

Beauties of the 40s

Audrey Hepburn and Bette Davis (at least supposed to be, lol)

I've started drawing 30s/40s actresses! I find them much more beautiful and interesting than today's actresses. :) Next on the list are June Lang, Ginger Rogers, and of course Ingrid Bergman! Perhaps also Lucille Ball.

This blog hasn't been much about health, at least not general health... but drawing makes me "mentally" healthy, haha. It's something I love to do that keeps me calm and happy, just like some people love soccer, dancing or singing. Having a hobby is necessary for your health, in my opinion.

Remember Rango?

It was quite long ago I showed you guys some pictures of our Yemen chameleon Rango! Since we got Rango  we have realized two things: 1. He can be really fast! 2. He is actally a she! That's right, Rango is a girl! And a very beautiful one too! :) I took these pictures of her today:

She was actually very curious about my camera, and almost tried to climb it! Instead she reached for my fingers (which almost never happens! Chameleons aren't the most social animals) and started climbing up my hand! It's awesome she wants to play these days. Yesterday she tried to climb the glass doors of the terrarium, so I opened it and she went up my arm instead.

Note to all the reptile people: I do not force her to come out. I know chameleons want to be left alone most of the time. If Rango doesn't want to, she obviously won't climb my hand, and if she wants to be alone she tries to seem big, which I know means "back off".

This is Rango when we first got her, and Rango today. Remember that the distance of the camera is not the same, she's not THAT much bigger today! Her head shield and her claws have grown a lot though :) Oh and I call her Mini-Buddha because of that pose she always strikes, hahaha.
See the resemblance?

Here are the.. SNAKES!

Like I told you yesterday, Mads got his Hognose snakes! He was like a child on Christmas, lol. I thought I would show you some pictures, since the snakes are actually very pretty! :D If you have a snake phobia or something, you probably shouldn't read this post! lol

0.1 het Toffee Belly  (female with genes for Toffee Belly morph)
She's my favorite! She's curious and sweet :3

0.1 het Toffee Belly  (second female with genes for Toffee Belly morph)
She's darker than the other female.

1.0 Toffee Belly (male Toffee Belly morph)
Look at that face! Aren't they cute? :D

0.1 Normal (Female with the original coloration)
She's fully grown and 6 years old or so? The rest are babies!

It feels so cool when you hold them! I want to play with them all the time, but Mads tells me it will stress the animals... Aww what's the point in getting pets (well I guess they're not really like pets such as dogs, but still) when you can't play with them? :( Oh well...

So what do you think, aren't they cute for being snakes?

Jacket: JC
Jeggings: H&M
High heels: Nelly.com

Mads and I just got back from a restaurant, as a late celebration of our 6 months anniversary :) And guess what...Now we have 4 hognose snakes in the apartment! LOL Mads and two of his friends have decided to breed them, so yeah... They're actually really cute! I'll upload pictures of them tomorrow or Thursday! I swear, even people who don't normally like snakes (like me) will find them cute!

Now I'm going to pick them up! Have a nice rest of the night :D

Golden Girl

I soooo want a gold dress for New year's Eve, they're gorgeous! A glitter one or a seqiun one, doesn't matter! I just want one! I need one (the one on the right)! What do you think, are they pretty or what? :)
All the dresses are from ASOS.

Does anyone know any other website with not too expensive gold dresses?
Någon som vet en svensk sida som säljer såna klänningar?

How to shape your eyebrows

Something that can either make or break a face is your eyebrows. There's not just one correct way to shape them though, because it all depends on the shape of your face. But there is a simple guide line to follow when tweezing your eyebrows, whether your face is round, heart shaped, or oval - and your nose is the key.

1. Where your eyebrows begin depends on your nose. You should be able to hold a ruler/pen/whatever by your nose wing and create a straight line up to where your eyebrows begin.
2. The small bow on your eyebrows depends on your iris.
3. Where your eyebrows should end depends on your outer eye corners and nose wings.

♡ Note that you should never let your eyebrow end where your outer eye corner is. This will look dumb on pretty much everybody. Your eyebrow should always be a bit longer.

As I mentioned before, your face shape should guide you to the right eyebrow shape. Here is a picture showing what kind of eyebrows look good on what face shapes:

♡ Remember to only pluck hair under your eyebrows and shape them that way. Or else you will probably end up with rather weird-looking eyebrows and unwanted hair growing over them.

If you have very dark hair and brows, it's better not to pluck them too much, creating very thin eyebrows. It will change your whole appearance! Like this picture I found on Google:

She looks like a different person, doesn't she?

I have to ad that I have not shaped my eyebrows (they are naturally shaped and thin), and therefore I can't show you how I do. But if you follow these pictures and guide lines, and of course your own taste, you will end up with a great pair of brows ;)

How to get rid of frizz

What you're missing right now over at Beauty by Tirin:

Day 1                                       Day 6                                           Day 17

HOW TO GET RID OF FRIZZY/DRY HAIR: THIS MAKES YOUR HAIR SILKY, SMOOTH AND HEALTHY
and
BEACH HAIR: ALL YEAR 'ROUND - HOW TO

Read about it here.

Beach hair: how to

I found the recipe on how to make your own hair spray to create the beach hair look, all year 'round!

You'll need:
♡ 1 Spray bottle
♡ ~230 ml Distilled water
♡ 1 teaspoon Sea salt
♡ ½ teaspoon Coconut oil
♡ ½ teaspoon Moroccan oil

All you need to do is microwave the fluid for about 5 min (use a small bowl), and then pour it into the spray bottle and shake it. Spray onto dry hair and massage it in if needed!

Beautiful curls: The conditioner method

So I was searching for different kinds of anti frizz serums on Google, and I came across this Swedish website called Lockig.se (locking = curly). It's a website about how to keep your hair beautiful and healthy, and what to avoid in order to get those perfect curls. I was a bit surprised when I read what to avoid: shampoo!

Shampoo contains alcohol (I always knew that was bad for your hair!!), minerals, sulfates, and other bad stuff that makes your hair dry and frizzy. To get healthy, soft and beautiful hair, you should avoid shampoo completely. Don't believe me? Just watch these before and after pictures:

Pictures from lockigt.se
Day 1                                    Day 6                                        Day 17

Do not worry though, conditioner actually removes dirt and all the same things as shampoo does. BUT you will need to stay away from your regular conditioner, since it contains silicon which makes your hair appear nicer, but when you wash it off, your hair is still dry and damaged.

What you will need to do is to find one or two different conditioner(s) which do not contain any of these things. I know the website is in Swedish, but the ingredients to avoid are written in English. You can also find a list of approved products to use.
Once you have found your product(s) it's time to take a shower! lol Use the conditioner as you would use a shampoo. Massage it gently, but intense to your hair roots to remove dirt, dust, exessive fat, etc. Wash your hair throroughly. Then apply conditioner to the rest of your hair. If you want, you can add a bit of honey to make your hair extra soft and smooth. Also comb your hair gently with your fingers before washing off the conditioner.

Think you're finished? Well think again! Now it's time to apply hair gel (note that the hair gel has to be free from all those bad ingredients too!) all over your hair. Start from the ends and massage it up to your hair roots.

When drying your hair with a towel, try using a kitchen towel or one of similar material, to keep your curls from splitting up and getting frizzy. You should also try the plopping method instead of your twisting your towel around you hair. Here is a series of picture to explain:

Remember not to touch your hair until it's completely dry! Also note that the conditioner method might take a week for some people before they can see a result, and up to 6 months for others.

The conditioner method works for people with big curls, small curls, wavy hair and straight hair. Of course you won't be getting any curls if you don't have it naturally, but your hair will definitely become healthier and more beautiful either way.

I am going to Sweden on the 21st, and will definitely start with this treatment for my hair once I am there. I will gladly show you the results afterwards! :)

Guide to flawless skin

A lot of people forget the most important thing when doing their makeup: their skin! A flawless looking skin is the key to beauty, whether you use a lot of makeup or not. Of course you have to keep your skin clean and smooth when you're not wearing makeup, but you also need to think about what kind of foundation works for you. Is your skin dry? Oily? Is your skintone warm or cool? What kind of coverage do you need?

Step 1: Lotion and primer
I have two favorite lotions: Clarins, and Decléor

I use Decléor Harmonie calm (which is milk-based and very moisturizing) after I remove my makeup and wash my face every evening. It does wonder for my skin! I can actually tell a big difference from the days when I don't use this lotion for some reason, from when I do.

I use Clarins Baume beauté eclair (or Beauty flash balm, as it's also called) before applying my foundation. This keeps my skin smooth and moisturized the whole day, and it also keeps my foundation in place, since it's also a primer!

Primers are essential for a perfect makeup base. It helps giving an even result for your foundation, and either gives your face a bit of shine, or creates a matte look. A primer is applied after your lotion (unless you use a combined lotion-primer, like I do), and is sometimes only needed in the T-zone (forehead and nose + chin).

Step 2: Foundation
Of course the first thing you need to do when picking foundation is to choose between liquid or mineral powder. For years I used liquid foundation from Clinique (which is actually very good; it covers extremely well and does not dehydrate my skin), before I tried mineral foundation.

Why did I go from liquid to mineral powder? Well, first of all, the color of the foundation never really seemed to match my skintone. My skintone is extremely difficult to match with a foundation because my skintone is like a mix of warm and cool. I am pretty pale (especially in fall/winter) but my foundation was either too dark or too pale for me. No good!

Secondly, the coverage was too much. I have never had bad skin (I do get blemishes at times, but it's not much). I wanted a lighter makeup and decided to try mineral foundation from Lily Lolo. I immediately fell in love. It does cover well and at the same time is and feels very light on your skin. Mineral foundation is perfect to avoid that cakey layer of makeup. This kind of foundation should be applied with a brush using circle motions, starting in the centre of your face.

This is me before and after foundation.
In this picture I am not wearing any makeup whatsoever.
As you can see, my skintone has both red and yellow in it.
In this second picture I have only applied foundation.
I used mineral powder foundation from Lily Lolo, shade: Blondie.
The foundation makes my skin matte and matches the paleness of my neck.

Step 3: Concealer
Sometimes you need that extra coverage. A concealer will help hide those small imperfections if you use the right color. It should be lighter than your foundation, and you can choose between a pen-colceiler, liquid concealer, or powder concealer. A concealer should be applied before or after your foundation, depending on what kind of result you want.

Right now I use the liquid concealer (or looks like a pen but the concealer is liquid) from Clinique whenever I need some extra coverage. Before that I used a powder concealer from Lily Lolo. Both are great and covers well.

Step 4: Finishing powder
This is pretty much only necessary if your foundation makes your face look shiny or oily, instead of that matte look you wanted. It can also be necessary if you use a very thin layer of powder foundation and want to get ride of the natural shine to your skin. Finishing powder also helps your makeup stay on longer.

Step 5: Cleansing
It is extremely important to always remove your makeup before going to bed - everyday! If you do not remove your makeup, or fail to remove it properly, you might get a small outbreak on your skin. Also, there's a risk of Demodex folliculorum, which is a species of mite. This will cause hair loss of your eyelashes and/or eyebrows.

I always start by removing my eye makeup, using a perfume free makeup remover (from a pharmacy). Then I use a makeup remover from Clinique to remove my foundation and bits of eye makeup that my first makeup remover failed to remove (only happens when I have worn false lashes).

It's good to, approximately once a week, use a facial scrub. This will remove dead skin and help keeping your face smooth and clean. Remember to rinse off properly and moisturize afterwards.

A girl with many hobbies

The ones of you who have followed my blog since last year (at Augusti30), probably know that I have many hobbies, and one of them is drawing. I've been drawing for fun since I was little, and I was always the creative one in the class! Of course as I grew older, the competition was tougher! I sorta fell behind since I was such a nerd those days and only drew manga ;) But I started with portraits again last year after a long drawing break, and I'm getting better and better!

This week I've been drawing children. I don't know why xD but I like drawing them and their facial expressions! Here are some of my most recent pictures:

I know, I know, I should've worked more on the tiles, but I was lazy, OK?

LOL at the jacket, it looks better IRL, but that's the boring part so it looks stupid now. x_x
I really don't have the patience for the boring stuff.. I only like drawing the faces!

and I'm only drawing crying children because I want to practice facial expressions. :)

So... would anyone be interested in getting tips on how to draw portraits? :) If you have your own tips to share, that'd be great too! I might write about it even if no one's interested, hahaha.

Update: I added a gallery with my drawings to the Home-page! Check it out if you want~
